LBA STAFF

Lois Askew was born and raised in Texas. When she was little she loved spending time at her great grandmother's house playing with her cat and pet duck, climbing trees, and teaching all her stuffed animals school. So, naturally she grew up loving animals, the great outdoors, and teaching. God has always been an important part of her life from the time she could talk. She had lots of questions about our Creator and His most precious gift of love for us. Every evening her grandmother would read the Bible to Lois, and they would have wonderful talks. Her prayer for salvation happened when she was 8 years old while she was lying in the green grass under a tree at her grandmother's house.
Joyfully, Lois grew up to become a teacher. She went to school at Victoria College, The University of Houston at Victoria, and got to work on her Masters at Baylor University thanks to a grant awarded her by Waco I.S.D. While teaching in Waco she studied Montessori Education and became a certified Montessori teacher for PK- 12 years. She then became a project director for a Fine Arts Montessori School where Lois would help develop curriculum and creative projects integrating visual and performing arts.
Travis and Lois have been married for 26 years. They have two wonderful grown children, Garrett and Megan. They had a sweet and beautiful addition to their family last year, when their son married Courtney Shearon. Travis and Lois live happily serving others where God leads them. They have taught youth at Lakeside Baptist Church for many years and witnessed young lives change through numerous mission trips and camps.
Recently, Lois retired from Granbury I.S.D. after 30 years of teaching. She is looking forward to teaching 3rd grade at Lakeside Baptist Academy as she continues her pilgrimage to serve God.

Bible-n-More
I am married with two children, Hannah and Noah, and I stay busy with them most of the time. I attend church in Glen Rose and enjoy serving there. I "play" outdoors as much as I can manipulate time to allow. I like to play tennis, read my Bible, and try to keep life as simple as possible. I graduated from Tarleton State University in 2003 and obtained a second degree two years later. I have been teaching and leading children in and out of school settings for many years and am truly grateful for the opportunity to teach at LBA.

Twenty years ago, God led me to begin one of the greatest adventures of my life - homeschooling! My husband Mitchell and I felt called to homeschool our oldest child for numerous reasons. The primary one being Deuteronomy 6:5-7 “ Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

I am excited to be joining the LBA staff this year as your 4th grade teacher. I am a retired elementary school teacher with 28 years of experience. My husband and I have both been educators for a long time. He was an administrator at Duncanville High school and I was at Alexander Elementary, both in Duncanville, Texas. We retired to Lake Granbury and love living here.
We have two daughters who are both graduates of Texas A&M and both of our son-in- laws are Aggie graduates as well. Yes, I am an Aggie Mom and proud of it! God has blessed us with two little grand daughters who are the light of our world. My greatest joy is spending time with them and our children. In my spare time I enjoy China Painting with friends and traveling to new places. We are members of Lakeside Baptist Church and currently I am serving on the Women’s Ministry Board. I am also a member of the local teacher’s group, Lambdi Pi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
I have an Early Childhood Master’s Degree from Texas Women’s University in Denton and a Bachelors Degree from North Texas State University.
Thank you for sharing your children with me this year. Seeing young children learn and grow is exciting to me!

My name is Hilary Keith, and I'm originally from Huntington, Tx, a small town in East Texas. I've recently moved to central Texas to join my now husband, newly married in April of 2015. I attended Texas A&M in College Station and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Education. I taught in public school for four years, then made my way back to my hometown and served as Children's Minister at my dad's church for the past two years. I love working with people, especially children, so I'm very excited to join the LBA team and be able to share my passion of teaching and my passion of Jesus. I enjoy baking, music, traveling, time with my family, and anything with my husband! Fun fact about me is that I have three younger siblings, and they are all engaged to be married this year! We all wondered when God would bring us our spouses, and He did it all in the same year! Thankful to God for His provision and faithfulness in hearing our prayers over the years for our spouses.

Katherine Moreno
Sign Language
My name is Katherine Moreno and I am so excited to be teaching American Sign Language at LBA this year. I have a MEd from Texas Wesleyan University. I also received my Associates degree in Interpreting for the Deaf at Tarrant County College, and have enjoyed increasing my skills as a signer. I met my husband while I working as a summer missionary at a Deaf church in Dallas. His entire family is Deaf this increased my signing skills as I got to know him and his family. I worked at the state school for the Deaf in Louisiana and while there I met 2 amazing Deaf boys whom we became foster parents to. This changed my life because sign language became my lifeline to communicate with my children. I am blessed to know this beautiful language and look forward to seeing how God will continue to impact my life with it. Sign Language has been a ministry and a way of communication for me. I look forward to teaching your child this amazing language.
